HLA Laboratory

The Histocompatibility Laboratory (HLA lab) was established in 1987 to provide services in support of the local kidney transplant program. The HLA laboratory is accredited by the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI). Available testing includes:

• HLA Class I and Class II typing by molecular methods
• Lymphocyte crossmatching by flow cyometry
• HLA Class I and Class II antibody testing by microbead array
• HLA Class I typing of platelet donors to support special transfusion needs
