The Shepeard Community Blood Center partnered with ForcesUnited to help local veterans and the community’s blood supply in honor of Veteran’s Day.

The blood center will donate $5 to ForcesUnited for every donor who comes into one of its three locations to donate blood or platelets through Monday. Donors need to notify the front desk they are donating for ForcesUnited.

ForcesUnited is a local organization that helps veterans and was formerly known as the Augusta Warrior Project.

Miniature American flags will be available at each center for donors to “adopt” and will be displayed at one of the centers. A blood drive will also be held Monday at ForcesUnited as part of its Operation Tailgate event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is at 701 Greene St.

Donors must be in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, be at least 17 and must bring a photo ID or Shepeard donor card to donate.
