The Community Blood Center and HSHS Wisconsin Announce Sole Provider Partnership for Blood and Blood Components
CBC to provide all blood products to the six HSHS hospitals in Wisconsin

Appleton, Wis. (June 29, 2020) – The Community Blood Center (CBC) and Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) Wisconsin jointly announce a new partnership, where CBC will provide all blood and blood components transfused to patients at the six HSHS hospitals in Wisconsin. The partnership formally begins July 1, 2020.

CBC has been serving hospitals and patients throughout Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan since 1955. With this new partnership, patients at HSHS hospitals in Green Bay, Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Oconto Falls and Sheboygan will have the benefit of a dependable blood supply from a local organization. Patients rely on transfusions for routine medical treatments, surgeries, injuries, and unexpected traumas.

“We are honored to partner with the compassionate teams at HSHS hospitals throughout Wisconsin,” John Hagins, President and CEO, The Community Blood Center, shared. “Together, we will care for patients in the Wisconsin communities served by this high-quality health system.”

HSHS is a multi-institutional health care system that provides patient care in Wisconsin and Illinois through 15 hospital locations. CBC is proud to become the sole supplier of all blood and blood components to the six hospitals located in Wisconsin:

  • HSHS St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay
  • HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center, Green Bay
  • HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan
  • HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls
  • HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire
  • HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls

“We are pleased to partner with The Community Blood Center to support our hospitals’ blood supply, a critical component of our high-quality health care system,” said Andy Bagnall, President and CEO, HSHS Wisconsin. “We are committed to ensuring all our patients in need of blood and blood products to ensure successful outcomes receive the highest quality of care.”

CBC has already begun hosting blood drives in these new service areas and will continue to work with businesses, schools and community partners to schedule additional drives in the months ahead. These blood drive sponsors have been pleased to support the local community blood center that supports the patients in local hospitals.

“There is no substitute for blood transfused directly to a patient; it has to come from a volunteer blood donor,” Hagins shared. “We commit to a safe and reliable blood supply for patients at HSHS hospitals throughout Wisconsin.”
